3G is third generation wireless technology.3G will be avilable in India by mid of 2009.Presently, there are 225 million 3G subscribers worldwide.

Some features of 3G are:
(1)It works in bandwidths range of 15-20 MHz.Currently in India, mobile phones works in the range of 30-200 KHz bandwidth and these are known as 2G or 2.5G.
(2) Download speed of 3G is 14.4 Mb/s and it's upload speed is 5.8 Mb/s.
(3) video broadcast and other value-added services such as telemedicine, mobile banking, stock transactions, e-learning etc with faster speed and high quality.
(4) wide-area wireless voice telephony.
(5) Faster cellular telephone, e-mail, paging, fax, videoconferencing, and Web browsing.

The first 3G services were launched by NTT DoCoNo in japan on October 2001 .Then these services were launched in Korea on January 2002.By 2007, 190 3G network were abilable in 40 countries.
